A Little Help from My Kitchen to Yours

Favorite tips, simple tricks, and the little things that make cooking, hosting, and everyday life a whole lot easier.

last updated: October 2026
If there's one thing I've learned as a Southern mom of two, it's that you pick up a few tricks along the way! Whether it's something my family has always done, a kitchen shortcut that saves me time, or a little discovery that makes everyday life easier, I love sharing the things that actually work.
I've always believed that a welcoming home isn't about having everything perfect. It's about finding joy in the everyday, making things a little simpler, and creating space for the people you love.
So I wanted to create a little corner of the website where I could keep all my favorite tips, tricks, and tried-and-true finds in one place. Think of this as an ongoing collection of things I've learned, things I love, and things I think you might love, too.
I'll keep adding to this list as I go, so be sure to check back whenever you need a little inspiration!
In the Kitchen
01. Prep a Little, Stress a Lot Less
One of the easiest ways to make weeknight cooking feel less overwhelming is to do a little prep before the week begins. Chop a few vegetables, wash your produce, or make a sauce or dressing ahead of time. Even fifteen minutes of preparation can make a big difference when everyone is hungry and supper needs to happen!
02. Keep a Few Go-To Meals in Your Back Pocket
You don't need a brand-new recipe every night of the week. Find five or six meals your family loves, keep the ingredients on hand, and rotate them when life gets busy. There's nothing wrong with having a few dependable favorites!
03. Double It and Save Some for Later
If you're already making a batch of waffles, biscuits, or a freezer-friendly supper, why not make a little extra? Having homemade food tucked away in the freezer can be such a lifesaver on those days when cooking is the last thing on your mind.
04.Keep Your Favorite Tools Within Reach
I'm a big believer that you don't need every kitchen gadget under the sun. A few good-quality tools that you genuinely enjoy using can make cooking so much easier. Keep the things you reach for most often somewhere convenient, and don't be afraid to let go of what you never use.
Around the Table
05.Fresh Flowers Make Everything Feel Special
You don't need an elaborate arrangement to make a table beautiful. A few grocery store flowers, greenery from the yard, or simple stems in a favorite vase can completely change the feeling of a room. Sometimes the simplest arrangements are my favorite.
06. Mix, Match, and Make It Yours
Some of my favorite table settings are the ones that don't match perfectly. Layer everyday dishes with vintage pieces, use different textures, or bring in something unexpected. A beautiful table should feel collected, personal, and welcoming, not like something you're afraid to touch.
07. Don't Wait for a Special Occasion
Pull out the pretty napkins. Light the candles on a Tuesday. Put flowers on the table just because. I've learned that we don't have to wait for holidays or company to make everyday moments feel a little more special.
Making Home Feel Like Home
08. A Little Seasonal Touch Goes a Long Way
You don't have to completely redecorate every time the seasons change. A fresh wreath, a bowl of seasonal fruit, a different tablecloth, or a few branches in a vase can bring the feeling of the season into your home without a lot of extra work.
09. Make Room for the Memories
Some of the most meaningful things in our homes aren't the newest or prettiest. They're the handwritten recipes, the dishes passed down from family, and the little treasures that hold a story. Don't be afraid to use them, display them, and let them become part of your everyday life.
10. Keep It Simple, Keep It Welcoming
If there's one thing I hope you'll take away from this little space, it's that hospitality doesn't require perfection. People remember how you made them feel far more than whether your house was spotless or your meal was fancy. Open the door, pull up another chair, and enjoy the company.
A Few of My Favorite Things
I'm always being asked about the little things I use in my kitchen and around our home, so I wanted to make it easy to find them all in one place!
From my favorite kitchen tools and everyday cooking essentials to table linens, serving pieces, flower arranging supplies, and seasonal finds, I've gathered some of the products I love and reach for again and again.
I'll keep updating these collections as I discover new favorites, so you can always come back and see what's new.
